Independence and conflicts of interest
Our advice is only useful if it is free of commercial interest in the outcome. The following terms are set out in every engagement letter.
- Equipment sold
- None. No panels, inverters, batteries or EPC activity.
- Supplier commission
- None. No referral fees, rebates or incentives from any manufacturer, contractor, financier or software vendor.
- Advisory fee
- Fixed, and agreed in writing before appointment.
- Fee linked to system size
- No.
- Advisory and development
- Operated as separate business lines. Development projects are held in separate project companies.
- We do not act as owner's engineer, due diligence adviser, lender's engineer or tender manager on any project in which Barouk Development holds an interest.
- A conflict check is carried out and recorded before every engagement. Where a potential conflict exists, it is disclosed in writing and we proceed only with the client's written consent, or we decline the work.
- On publicly funded or donor-funded assignments, we apply the funder's conflict-of-interest rules, including World Bank procurement regulations.
- Any commercial relationship with a technology provider is disclosed in our proposals.
