Energy and diesel audit
A measured account of how a site uses electricity and diesel, what it costs, and what a solar, storage and generator configuration could save. It establishes the baseline against which any supplier proposal can be judged.
When to commission it
- Diesel is a material share of operating cost and the true cost per kWh is not known.
- Suppliers have proposed systems of different sizes and the site cannot say which is right.
- Before a feasibility study, to decide whether one is justified.
Scope
- Site visit and inspection of generators, distribution boards, grid connection and roof or land area.
- Load logging over a representative period, typically two to four weeks.
- Reconciliation of fuel purchase records, generator hour meters and grid bills.
- Cost per kWh from each source, including generator maintenance and replacement.
- Sizing of a solar, storage and generator concept with indicative capital cost and savings.
What you receive
- Audit report with load profile, energy balance and cost of supply by source.
- Recommended system concept with indicative cost, savings and payback.
- List of efficiency measures that cost little or nothing to implement.
