Technical due diligence
An independent review of a renewable energy asset or portfolio for investors, lenders and acquirers: design, energy yield, equipment, contracts, permits and operating performance.
When to commission it
- Before investing in, lending to or acquiring a project, portfolio or developer.
- A lender requires an independent engineer's report as a condition of financing.
- An operating portfolio is underperforming and the cause is unclear.
Scope
- Review of design, layout and electrical configuration.
- Independent energy yield assessment or review of the developer's estimate.
- Assessment of main equipment, suppliers, warranties and certificates.
- Review of EPC, O&M, lease and power purchase contracts from a technical perspective.
- Review of permits and regulatory status.
- For operating assets: performance analysis against expected yield and site sampling.

- Due diligence report with executive summary and a table of key issues and risks, each rated with a recommended mitigation.
- Technical inputs for the financial model.
